«Already,
certain Local Orthodox
Churches will be abstaining from this meeting,
and those that will participate, will be disagreeing
among themselves on the same issue. The
responsibilities of our Ecumenical Patriarch
Bartholomew and the others ... are immense, for the
safeguarding of the internal unity of the Orthodox
Church.
To
safeguard Orthodox unity, it is imperative that an
inter-Orthodox Meeting take place prior to the
meeting in Cyprus, with a common decision on the
issue at hand. The postponement of the Cyprus
Meeting for some time is imperative, for the
following reasons:
1. The
head of the Orthodox Committee for the Dialogue has
already clashed with Orthodox Hierarchs who
represent Local Orthodox Churches;
2. The
subject matter of the dialogue has deviated away
from the common decision by the 1st pan-Orthodox
Conference in Rhodos, which had clearly prescribed
an
